Challenge

During the renovation of this historic six-story building, the lights beneath a massive skylight were installed without a practical plan for future maintenance. The height of the building made scaffolding impractical, leaving the fixtures difficult to access once the renovation was complete.

Rope Guy Solution

The Rope Guy team designed and built a custom ladder system that could be bolted directly onto the 3-by-3 steel frame supporting the soffit. Once installed, the ladder provided a direct route to the lighting fixtures beneath the skylight.

The custom ladder was constructed in sections, allowing it to fit inside airline-size travel cases for efficient transportation to the job site.

Results

The custom access solution transformed a difficult six-story maintenance challenge into a straightforward process. The building’s lighting fixtures could be reached quickly and efficiently without the cost, setup time, or disruption of six-story scaffolding. The modular design also allowed the specialized equipment to be easily transported and reused for the project.
